Not much time, but we received our first significant rainfall in weeks today, and only three days after I planted 2 acres of sorghum cane. Woohoo! Our gardens and crops are gonna love it!
Sweet sorghum for syrup, commonly but incorrectly called molasses. (Molasses is really a byproduct of crystallization during the processing of sugar cane, not sorghum cane. But molasses as an incorrect synonym for sorghum syrup has, er, stuck ... ha!)
We'll probably use the seed heads and bagasse (crushed cane left after removing the juice) for animal feed this fall and winter. Why waste it, eh?
